We have been making moulds in "Widia" carbide for

electric motor laminations since 1960.

The 1980 saw the birth of our first experimental mould for

producing skewed and packed helical rotors.

Given the advantage of an in-house blanking department

with high speed presses up to 3000 kN,

we were able to move quickly from the experimental to

the operational phase. This then led to the development of

the system called "AUTOGRAF".

We can supply not only the "AUTOGRAF" mould

but all the associated hardware and software needed for

it to work properly. Our moulds, noted for the high quality

of their construction and performance,

are used worlwide: in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

The blanking division is equipped with presses ranging from 1250 kN

to 3000 kN operating at speeds of up to 600 c/min producing magnetic

laminations for electric motors.

All our presses are equipped with a computerized system for

controlling moulds for manufacturing rotor and stator

packs and finished to programmed heights. These systems

also make it possible for the laminations to rotate to compensate

anomalous thicknesses in the laminations to be cut. The range of presses

available enables us not only to standard

production activities but also to,

carry out stringent tests on the dies in "WIDIA" steel

that are produced in our die-making division in CINISELLO BALSAMO.

The division is equipped with C.N.C.-operated blanking fine pressesranging

from 800 kN to 14000 kN.

Some of these have in addition, of course,

to the three traditional fine blanking

functions, hydraulic capacities, enabling effects to be produced

that seem barely possible.

E. Malvestiti S.p.a. uses quality systems certified

in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 requirements.

This latter certification relates to the automotive industry

and covers the principal European and American standards.

The heart of the quality system is a highly efficient "quality control"

organization which, in order to guarantee our products

(both in terms of correspondence to design specifications

and product reliability),has at its disposal

such modern instrumentation as: three-dimensional measuring equipment,

both contact and optical (camera) systems supported by

dedicated software; applications for

Static Process Control (SPC); instruments for the determination of

physical and mechanical characteristics.

While keeping on constant contact with customers,

our "quality control" technicians keep up-to-date with

progress in control systems and with the development of new products

with a view to improving and unifying measurement procedures.

The Mould Making Division goes from simple block dies to

complex progressive moulds with ever more sophisticated functions;

from small size moulds to moulds of up to 2000x1000 mm.

From the auto industry to electrical appliances, from the

electromechanical industry to electronics and textiles: these are just some of

some of the varied markets in which we are active.

Maximum flexibility combined with sharply focused specialization,

ERNESTO MALVESTITI S.p.A., the most important partner of CERN

since 1990 for the development and the production of

the fine blanking of the LHC ACCELERATOR.

More than 60% of the parts of the LHC produced

in fine blanking are manufactured in our plants at Cinisello and Muggiò.
